The Pose of the day is the ARROW pose! To illicit Balance in all areas of life. Straight, Strong and Focused.

As you start the pose follow the mantra and Finish with “I dare to be strong”.

1. I am straight as an arrow

2. I am long and focused

3. I fly through the air

4. I dare to be strong

I have worked through some Out with/In with statements and focusing on positive energy this week. My favorite for this pose, “Out with the stress, In with the peace”.

The oils I was drawn to before this pose were Passion and Peace. I rolled them on my pulse points on my wrist and neck and rubbed them in to increase blood flow.

Passion is also known as the inspiring blend. It contains individual oils that blend to increase passion and confidence and decrease fear, rejection and defeat.

Cardamom: is uplifting, refreshing, and invigorating and may help with feelings of confusion.

Cinnamon: has warming, stimulating properties and is often used to help with low libido.

Ginger: is often used for its stimulating, warming influence. The aroma may help influence physical energy and love. Shown in this study to potentially increase physical activity as well as serve as an anti oxidant and anti inflammatory! Very cool.

Clove: helps create a feeling of protection and courage and is often used to help with hormonal balance.

Sandalwood: helps calm, harmonize, and balance the emotions and can help relieve nervous tension. As seen in this study.

Jasmine: has a beautiful, uplifting fragrance that symbolizes hope, happiness, and love. It is often used to help uplift and open the emotions and to help promote powerful, inspirational relationships.

Vanilla: is calming and balancing and may help ease tension.

Damiana: was used traditionally by the ancient Mayan and Aztec people to promote stronger feelings of affection. It is often used to help reduce feelings of anxiety and promote relaxation.

Peace is an emotions blend also called the Reassuring blend. It helps fight emotions of anger, depression and grief as well has illicit happiness and is uplifting.

Single Oils in This Blend:

Vetiver: has calming, balancing properties and is often used to help sedate the nerves. It may also help with anxious, stressful, worried feelings and promote restful sleep. Also good with decreasing anxiety according to this study.

Lavender: is well known for its calming, soothing properties. It helps promote consciousness, health, love, peace, and a general sense of well-being.

Labdanum: or cistus, was one of the first aromatic substances used anciently. It is stimulating to the senses and is often used to help elevate the emotions and soothe the nerves.

Spearmint: is often used to help open and release emotional blocks and to bring about a feeling of balance. It is also known to help with feelings of depression by relieving mental strain and fatigue and lifting one’s spirit.

Pain Relief

Who has Low back pain? I DO! After carrying around my sweet boys all day, doing the laundry, yard work and other house hold tasks my back is pretty toast! I am also a Physical Therapist Assistant during the day, I do all of my exercises (and you should too!) but the pain still lingers.

Based on this randomized clinical trial the use of Ginger Essential Oil with massage was an effective treatment for low back pain and should be considered by medical professionals!

I tried it out and was very impressed with the results. It is not a long term answer but it defiantly cut the pain!

Some other awesome DoTERRA options I have been using are the following:

I also use the DEEP BLUE RUB: the oil is not as effective for me as the RUB so I suggest trying it if you have not had success with the Oil. Comment below if you want a free sample!

From DoTERRA Directly:

Wintergreen: With chemical components that provide renewing properties, Wintergreen oil is often used to provide a warming, soothing massage after physical activity. Along with it restorative properties, Wintergreen also has an uplifting, fresh aroma that can stimulate the senses.

Copaiba under the tongue: I was skeptical about internal use but OH MY GOODNESS this works amazing! Check out this Breakdown of the science here.

Also HERE: It is suggested that the naturally occurring sesquiterpenes present in the copaiba oils seem to be responsible for the anti inflammatory response.

Copaiba Essential Oil is most exciting as it’s an extremely versatile oil and there are many ways to incorporate it into your life…

1 – Most of the body can benefit from Copaiba—it supports the cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous, and immune system. To take advantage of these benefits for any of these systems, add one to two drops to water, juice, or make your own tea by using warm water and honey.

2 – Copaiba blends well with Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Frankincense, or Ylang Ylang. Use any of these oils that appeal to you and create your own personal fragrance in a roller bottle. (Fill the rest of the bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil.)

3 – Keep your skin clear and clean while reducing the appearance of blemishes by adding Copaiba to your toner or by applying it directly to skin before applying moisturizer.

4 – When you’re facing a stressful day ahead or feeling worried, diffusing Copaiba’s woody scent can help calm any anxious feelings you may be experiencing.

5 – Take one to two drops in a veggie capsule to take advantage of the antioxidants—the substance that stops potential damage to your cells from oxidation.

What will be the first way you use your Copaiba essential oil?

Black or Earl Gray…

Very calming

Have you ever wondered what sets Earl Gray tea apart from the black English breakfast tea? The quick and most accurate answer is the unsung hero of essential oils…Bergamot. Whether you pronounce it like the french or with a hard “T” it is a great oil for calming anxiety and settling down from a long day.

This oil can help with insomnia, relaxation, and reduce agitation.

There was a study conducted that shows bergamot and lavender blended decrease feelings of anxiety and depression which is very awesome. One step closer to helping people control their mental health and feel empowered to have the tools on hand to combat those feelings!!

Please remember that bergamot is a citrus oil and may cause skin sensitivity when exposed to sun up to 12 hours after application!

Bergamot blends best with the following oils: Cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, lavender, lemon, and ylang ylang.

Calm, cool, and collected

Have you ever tried to keep a 2.5 year old male calm? For a week? I tell you, for me, it is not easy!

My sweet boy had a medical procedure that requires him to not straddle or climb or jump and there is only so much TV one can watch before you get bored.

In my research about keeping little ones calm I found that the In Tune blend was a great option but I did not have it on hand. I did however have the oils to make it.

The Focus blend may help with hyperactivity, ADD/ADHD, calmness, focus,  and stress.

The blend contains: Amyris Bark, Patchouli Leaf, Frankincense Resin, Lime Peel, Ylang Ylang Flower, Hawaiian Sandalwood Wood, Roman Chamomile Flower essential oils

According to this article  the oil ylang ylang has shown to decrease heart rate and improve calmness.

I did not have Amyris, but I was able to mix the other oils in a roller with FCO and applied it to the bottom of little guys feet and to his heart and spine. I rubbed it in with a gentle loving massage and started up the TV. We both have been reasonably calm after each application. We have to re apply every couple hours but it has helped us a lot.

One small note is I added 1 drop of vetiver as it is also known for calming and it is one of my favorites!!

Stay calm my friends and have a great evening!!

Memorial day

It is memorial day weekend!!! I love barbecues and good sales, but it is so important to remember why we get to enjoy this three day weekend.

I have been talking to my endless question asking 2 year old about memorial day and where it stems from. We talked about how we take the day to remember all of the men and women who gave their lives to protect our freedom, allow us to live in peace, play with our toys, eat good food and sleep in our warm beds.

He then told me “momma are they sad?” I explained that they are now resting in peace but their loved ones may be sad. He then asked “can we make them happy”? He too wise for his years and I have no answer.

However there is an awesome oil called Console that is a blend to help process feelings of grief and sadness.

Using console to help with teething while mommy works!

doTERRA says “Console Comforting Blend of floral and tree essential oils will help you close the door on sadness and take your first steps on a hopeful path toward emotional healing.”

I use this blend for balance and calming anxiety and also grieving the loss of my personal space and free time haha 😂

The main oils in the comforting blend are:

Frankincense: an amazing oil often used to promote feelings of balance, focus and meditation. As well as  ease impatience and restlessness.

Patchouli: surprisingly part of the mint family which can be  sedating, calming, and relaxing which often  help reduce anxious feelings.

Ylang Ylang: a floral scent that has antidepressant and sedative properties. It is often used to help calm and relax.

Calm Down!

Recently my company merged with another company and my medical benefits changed. I just got off the phone for the 4th time this week trying to explain that they need to bill my new insurance instead of my old one. Does anyone communicate anymore!? Thank the lord I had my roller blend pre-made because let me tell you, with a screaming baby in the background, a toddler trying to get into everything and me trying to tell the same company for the 4th time that they are billing the wrong insurance I was about to lose it!

However, I took the high road. I had some big whiffs of my roller bottle and then rolled it on my neck and hands and managed a calm and adult conversation. Fingers Crossed I don’t have to speak to them again about this topic.

Interesting fact:  research shows that lavender increases signs of interpersonal trust. See the research here .

I will choose to believe that using my essential oil blend allowed me to calm down and trust in the person on the other line to solve my problem!

Why not try it out! Plus, It smells Really good!

Ylang Ylang-  Treating anxiety, lowering blood pressure, releasing frustration

Lavender: Illicit feelings of trust.  Can make it easier to help release tension and angry.

Orange-Can bring feelings of calm and uplifting as well as alleviation of anxiety.

Three drops of each oil into a roller bottle, fill the bottle to the top with fractionated coconut oil
