Bruise Be Gone

Good Morning!

My children have been extra needy these last few weeks, demanding to be held. Which I totally do not mind because they are pretty cute! Add in some yard work and the fact that I have been using my arms a little extra at work the last few weeks and I am left with a sore shoulder.

Luckily I have all the tools in my arsenal to help! I did some cupping. Michael Phelps was the one who made the technique famous but it has been used in eastern medicine for ages! This article  has some compelling evidence that cupping may be beneficial for pain control and improved quality of life. The down side is it leaves some nasty bruising.

Luckily for me I have OILS!

2013 review found helichrysum to have anti-hematomal properties. If quickly applied, the essential oil can reduce bruise size and appearance as well as decrease inflammation.

Apply diluted oil to unbroken skin immediately after injury or massage. Reapply as necessary for pain relief.

I took this one further and Checked my Modern Essentials book for other great oils to help!

I came up with this blend.

I mixed it with Vitamin E oil because that is what I have on hand. FCO, jojoba or grape seed oil would work well too.

Hope you have good luck with those bruises.

Feel the Burn

Burn DIY spray

Thank the lordy for my awesome parents!! My dad made me and the boys dinner tonight while husband was at work because 1) he loves me and 2) they have AC and ours is currently out of commission while we wait for a part!

He made pulled pork tacos which were AMAZING!! Filled a corn tortilla folded it in half and deep fried it…. Sadly he burned his finger while cooking! 😢

Luckily we got his finger directly into some ice water. Followed by lavender to sooth the skin and finished off with some frankincense to prevent blistering and a scar.

To follow up he will need this great after burn spray!

2oz spray bottle

5 Drops helicrysum

5 Drops peppermint

10 drops lavender

Fill to the top with vitamin E oil

Put on lid, shake and spray on burn area!

Feel better dad! We love you!

Pain Relief

Who has Low back pain? I DO! After carrying around my sweet boys all day, doing the laundry, yard work and other house hold tasks my back is pretty toast! I am also a Physical Therapist Assistant during the day, I do all of my exercises (and you should too!) but the pain still lingers.

Based on this randomized clinical trial the use of Ginger Essential Oil with massage was an effective treatment for low back pain and should be considered by medical professionals!

I tried it out and was very impressed with the results. It is not a long term answer but it defiantly cut the pain!

Some other awesome DoTERRA options I have been using are the following:

I also use the DEEP BLUE RUB: the oil is not as effective for me as the RUB so I suggest trying it if you have not had success with the Oil. Comment below if you want a free sample!

From DoTERRA Directly:

Wintergreen: With chemical components that provide renewing properties, Wintergreen oil is often used to provide a warming, soothing massage after physical activity. Along with it restorative properties, Wintergreen also has an uplifting, fresh aroma that can stimulate the senses.

Peppermint: Peppermint oil is known for its energizing properties, and gives Deep Blue Rub a minty, invigorating scent. Commonly used to promote alertness and stimulation, Peppermint essential oil lends itself to the cooling, refreshing nature of Deep Blue Rub.
Ylang Ylang: As mentioned, the Deep Blue Rub formula is designed to moisturize skin without leaving it greasy or oily. Ylang Ylang oil has long been used to improve the appearance of skin, and offers soft, gentle properties for the skin in the Deep Blue Rub blend.
Eucalyptus: Like Wintergreen, the chemical makeup of Eucalyptus oil makes it a renewing essential oil. Along with its renewing properties, Eucalyptus is also known to promote feelings of relaxation, which make it an important ingredient in Deep Blue Rub.
Helichrysum: With countless benefits for the skin, Helichrysum is a helpful oil to include in any blend to help promote moisturized, soft skin. In addition to its benefits for skin, Helichrysum oil holds renewing properties that provide a soothing sensation upon application.

Copaiba under the tongue: I was skeptical about internal use but OH MY GOODNESS this works amazing! Check out this Breakdown of the science here.

Also HERE: It is suggested that the naturally occurring sesquiterpenes present in the copaiba oils seem to be responsible for the anti inflammatory response.

Copaiba Essential Oil is most exciting as it’s an extremely versatile oil and there are many ways to incorporate it into your life…

1 – Most of the body can benefit from Copaiba—it supports the cardiovascular, immune, digestive, nervous, and immune system. To take advantage of these benefits for any of these systems, add one to two drops to water, juice, or make your own tea by using warm water and honey.

2 – Copaiba blends well with Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Frankincense, or Ylang Ylang. Use any of these oils that appeal to you and create your own personal fragrance in a roller bottle. (Fill the rest of the bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil.)

3 – Keep your skin clear and clean while reducing the appearance of blemishes by adding Copaiba to your toner or by applying it directly to skin before applying moisturizer.

4 – When you’re facing a stressful day ahead or feeling worried, diffusing Copaiba’s woody scent can help calm any anxious feelings you may be experiencing.

5 – Take one to two drops in a veggie capsule to take advantage of the antioxidants—the substance that stops potential damage to your cells from oxidation.

What will be the first way you use your Copaiba essential oil?
